Steps
- Draft the shortest possible rule list.
- Merge overlapping rules.
- Add examples under rules members misunderstand.
- Write consequences in calm language.
- Ask a new member to summarize the rules back to you.
Rules are interface design. If they are too long, too vague, or hidden away, members will not use them as intended.
Good rules help people participate confidently, not just punish them after confusion.
